Matthew has had a 15+ year career that has spanned across media, marketing and professional services, Matt has cherished the ability to lead from the front with motivating and engaging techniques that reconnect back to the core purpose and direction. Having managed budgets in excess of $50M, contractor teams of over 2,500 and powered start-ups to be global entities, Matt’s drive is to get the best out of people by inspiring a sense of direction through strategic engagement and empowerment.

Since 2015, Matt has led some of Australia’s top CFO’s and Executives to help companies realise their potential and reach new heights of growth. Matthew has also been a Non-Executive Director for CFO Advisory, Civil Infrastructure and Property Marketing and has previously been a country representative in Australia, Canada and the UK.

Matt's experience with SMBs

Matthew has first-hand business experience in leading two businesses in the Victoria region, whose service offering is to place top-level Executives into SME’s. This means he is dealing directly with SME owners, hearing their issues, understanding their needs and coming up with solutions to spearhead the issues and propel the business towards growth.

There are three main prevalent issues that Matthew has noted that are affecting eligible businesses in Victoria. The number one issues is; Leadership - businesses are lacking leadership in senior roles and this drips down to lack of leadership in Marketing and Sales teams, resulting in negative growth. Businesses often don’t know how or where to look when recruiting for leadership roles. The second issues is: clarity on business performance and cashflow. Matthew has seen this a lot in the placement of CFO’s into SME’s, where there is lack of understanding and know-how when it comes to cashflow management, analysis, budgeting and forecasting.

Thirdly, the mental health of founders and the stress of running and developing a business is a key issue Matthew sees throughout businesses. There is a lack of support when it comes to this and often SME owners feel out of their depth or they’re not sure what to expect.
